I’ve been reading Wild at Heart, and this verse has come up. What caught my attention about it is how often we only use the last sentence. “I will not leave you nor forsake you” (This part of the verse is also in Hebrews 13, which is where we often reference it). That just makes it sound like God is there to comfort or something to that effect. Taking in the verse as a whole, I realize God is there for more than comfort. He is there to fight with you. “No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you.” God definitely was with Moses. When Moses was leading, God brought forth plagues and even drowned an entire army. God is not only there to comfort. He is a warrior ready to drop the hammer when shit gets crazy. To me, that’s far more comforting than a guy in the back who offers a hug during tough times.
